Set of brass balance scales, of typical form with central cylindrical support and medial ivory dial, the balance with central needle and flanked on one side by bronze weight dish suspended by three chains and on the other by removable round dished pan suspended by shaped brass bar on Y-form support; all raised on a molded mahogany rectangular base. Includes set of stacking pyramidal round disc weights and small granule pan.
This probably was originally a fancy set of grocer's scales. The fine brass and mahogany makes this well suited for library or office decoration.
