Very unusual school American history timeline chart, rolling from one wooden domed scrolled case to the other by an iron hand crank in the bottom of each case, intended to be hung on the wall for use and to be closed for storage or transport with the cases joined by latches.
The chart is organized as a timeline history of America from the American Revolution to the administration of President Benjamin Harrison in 1890, when the chart was published. The clever design packs a great deal of information into graphic form. The story of American history is told in chronological order, with inset text, charts, tables, maps and illustrations concerning important events, inventions, discoveries, people and places. The top section is divided into color blocks by presidential administration and lists each president and his cabinet officers. Below these blocks are portraits of the presidents and events that occurred during each administration. In the center, interweaving colored lines show which political parties were active, with the president's party on top. The chart also includes some questions for students.
