Collection of three etchings depicting ornate ancient Roman helmets with raised decorative classical elements, after drawings from the original objects made in Italy and France. They were originally part of a collection of etchings of antique and modern ornaments by Lorenzo Zucchi, who included a fulsome dedication in praise of the patron who underwrote their publication. He also stated that the prints were made after original drawings by "royal architect" Giulio Enrico Schwartz -- probably the Italian version of a German name.
Lorenzo Zucchi was an Italian etcher and engraver, born in Venice to the Zucchi family of artists and printmakers, which included two uncles, a cousin, and his father Andrea Zucchi (1679-1740), a painter, scenographer and printmaker. After studying printmaking under his father, he went to Dresden, in Saxony, Germany, in 1726, and remained there for the rest of his life, engraving prints after various artists.
