Original Art Deco illustration of a red airplane. It is set against a sky-blue background, with a blurred landscape below suggestive of its speed and motion. The plane is of a similar style to Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis.

Cave was prolific French aviation artist at a time when the romance of air flight, as exemplified by Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart, appealed to the popular imagination. He specialized in genre scenes and advertising posters. He was well known for a series of paintings of airplanes adapted as prints, and he contributed illustrations to many aviation books. This painting was possibly made for one of his prints or book illustrations.
